So far, I kept an old version of MSN (it is also the only software that I was not putting up-to-date!) because the newer versions were much too heavy, too slow for my taste! But since a few days, Microsoft has engaged in a system blocking older versions and forcing users to migrate to newer versions of Windows Live Messenger.
Although that can override their blocking, I still preferred to update my Live Messenger in order to reduce the risk of security and too bad faults for the slowness!
I am on Windows Seven, and at first I didn't worry except the slow! But after a few restart of my PC, I got surprised to see that the MSN Live icon had disappeared from the systray (notification next to the clock bar!) What was also very pity!
The trick to appear the icon in Windows 7 is known for some time, but for those who do not know yet, here it is:
- Right-click on the icon for MSN Live
- Click on properties
- Go to the Compatibility tab
- Check run this program in compatibility mode for
- and select Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)
- Click Ok
Now, you will have the return of the icon beside the clock!
